Inference delivers the first fully integrated set of tools for MATLAB collaboration, data analysis, and enhanced reporting via Microsoft® Office

Inference offers excellent value as a collaboration and reporting tool for MATLAB users. By weaving full MATLAB functionality into the familiar Microsoft Office environment, Inference makes MATLAB more accessible and user friendly

Blue Reference, Inc., a leading provider of software that powers the discovery and application of knowledge, concluded a nine month beta release cycle with the announcement of the commercial release of Inference for MATLAB. The release is comprised of tools that enable MATLAB users to leverage the productivity features of Word and Excel documents for collaboration, data analysis, and enhanced reporting.

Inference functions as a Microsoft Office add-in that has a point-and-click interface for adding MATLAB code, m.files, and structured data to Word and Excel documents. With a single click, the Word or Excel document can be automatically transformed into a results document, making reporting a cinch. And Inference utilizes all of the Microsoft Office productivity features that are essential for editing, formatting, and collaboration.

MATLAB users will find it easy to use Inference for creating reports and collaborating with colleagues because it is based on the familiar Microsoft Office user interface. It's a document centric approach, meaning that all relevant code, m. files, data, and text are neatly stored in a single document. So, users need only one document to collaborate with colleagues and provide fully reproducible results.

"Inference offers excellent value as a collaboration and reporting tool for MATLAB users. By weaving full MATLAB functionality into the familiar Microsoft Office environment, Inference makes MATLAB more accessible and user friendly," says Paul van Eikeren, Chief Executive Officer and President of Blue Reference.

Inference can be used to create and deploy situational applications, or highly tailored solutions, for solving complex data analysis problems. A solution might consist of an excel table, MATLAB code to plot data from the excel table, and instructions for adding data to the excel table. With Inference for MATLAB, such a solution can be deployed to end-users and executed within minutes.

Whether creating data analysis reports or deploying technical computing solutions to a research team, Inference users cite the many benefits of doing their MATLAB work in Excel and Word documents.
