The Reproductive Resource Center (RRC) of Kansas City is proud to announce that Dr. Ryan Riggs will be appearing and speaking at the free 2011 Kansas City Infertility Awareness Conference on April 30th at the North Kansas City Hospital in Missouri.
The conference is a product of the Kansas City Infertility Awareness Support Group and a first of its kind in the KC metro area. The support group founders aim to use the conference to raise awareness of the effects of infertility and provide support and encouragement to couples struggling with the issue. Already, the support group has more than one-hundred members. Dr. Riggs, who appeared in a recent interview by NBC Action News for a segment on infertility and the 2011 event, will be addressing members and guests and speaking about infertility at the conference on Saturday, April 30th.
Dr. Ryan Riggs is a noted surgeon, speaker, researcher, and author who trained at the distinguished Jones Institute for Reproductive Medicine at Eastern Virginia Medical School where the first in-vitro fertilization (IVF) baby was conceived in the United States. He will be presenting an “Infertility 101” talk at 9:20am Saturday, April 30th in the Lewis and Clark Room at North Kansas City Hospital in North Kansas City, Missouri.
“We are very excited to have Dr. Riggs speaking at the 2011 conference,” said Toni Clark of RRC. “The primary goal of the conference is to give hope and information to individuals and couples in the Greater Kansas City area who are struggling with issues regarding infertility and the inability to conceive naturally. As one in five couples confront problems with infertility, that means some 7-8 million people have difficulty conceiving. RRC is dedicated to aiding and encouraging others experiencing infertility, and we look forward to hearing Dr. Riggs speak.”
About the 2011 Kansas City Infertility Awareness Conference:
The 2011 Kansas City Infertility Awareness Conference was organized to help bring recognition and awareness to the National Infertility Awareness Week (April 24 to 30). Local fertility clinics, counselors, and other community leaders will be coming together to help sponsor an educational event designed to acknowledge infertility, raise awareness of its far-reaching effects, and offer resources to the men and women who struggle with infertility issues in Kansas City. At the 2011 event, four speakers – Ryan Riggs, M.D.; Colleen Milroy, M.D.; Dan Gehlbach, M.D.; and Kerry Christifano, M.A., L.P.C. – will be on-hand to address the medical and emotional sides of infertility, as well as offer tangible ways to cope with this hardship. For those who are having difficulty conceiving naturally, the conference speakers will also discuss available options and how to begin to take charge of your family-building journey.
The conference is free of admissions charges but registration is required. Visit http://www.kansascityinfertilityawareness.com for more information and to register for the conference.
