"Saving time and money are critical issues with most commercial ventures and that's what we do," said Lee Cooper, President of Cooper Systems, Inc.

Due to the country's current economic crisis a lot of companies are scaling back and no longer have a dedicated in-house information technology department. Those same clients are in need of high-end expertise when it comes to network service and network security. However, a small to medium sized firm may find that the services of most networking firms are not within their budget.

"In this day and age, more than ever, working within a client's budget is extremely important," Cooper said. "The corporate IT environment is very different from just a year ago."

Cooper has talked with many Memphis-based firms that have been scared off from the flashy IT service providers. He said, "They bill out at extremely high rates. Some want long-term contracts or demand that their clients purchase expensive blocks of time. One firm wanted to take over a client's whole network and basically lease it back to them at an exorbitant rate."

Cooper said his information technology company operates differently. He requires no long-term commitment and does not bill in blocks of time unless the client requests it. Cooper Systems Certified Technical Network Engineers are available on an as needed basis. Cooper added that it is simple, "just call and we'll send a tech right out."

Cooper's clients typically are small- to medium-sized companies with five to 50 workstations.

According to Larry Cook, Technical Director of the Networking Services Division of the Memphis-based company, the company's information technology concept is beginning to draw the attention of many new clients. He and three other network engineers are staying pretty busy these days.

"We're averaging three to four new commercial customers a week," he explains.

With many different certifications, including staff technicians with Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and Cisco certifications, company techs can quickly resolve clients' most demanding issues. Cooper Systems also provides services to make clients' networks fully secured as well.

"Many smaller businesses do not realize that there are affordable options that can do this," Cooper said. "In today's business environment a firewall is essential. Many of our clients' employees want to work from their home and log on to the company network. This is done using a VPN or Virtual Private Network over the Internet. The Company's service rates are among the lowest in the Memphis area and our response time is averaging a couple of hours from a client's call to a tech's arrival. Issues are usually resolved the same day."
