Flying Point Media undertook the specific task of marketing Yankees Premium season tickets online and leveraged many digital strategies including harnessing social media.
Despite the fanfare surrounding the highly anticipated new Yankee Stadium, selling high-end season ticket packages during the greatest period of economic uncertainty since the Great Depression posed quite a challenge. "Selling a premium product in such a hostile economic climate was a difficult task," says Alan Pearlstein, CEO and Founder of Flying Point Media. "We had to respond to the changing economic environment, so we focused our campaign towards the places online where we identified engaging discussions about the Yankees offering."
In addition, the highly targeted direct response campaign featured videos and animated images related to Yankees tradition. The ads were placed on leading online publications in the months leading up to the Opening Day in April 2009. By the Opening Day, the Yankees organization sold out nearly all of its Yankees Premium season tickets. All parties involved considered the online advertising campaign a sweeping success.
