The experience of working and living in China will hopefully be a big boost to our CVs; we have made some good friends and done some networking.

Global exposure and international work experience add great value to anyone's resume. Many students and new graduates express interest in traveling the world and exploring new cultures. Some students, however, seek to travel for more constructive purposes than just lying on a beach. Such students attempt to merge their desire for traveling with their thirst for knowledge and strive to gain valuable work and life experience during their journey abroad. Hannah Cross and Jordan Hudson, fresh graduates from the University of Lancashire, UK, recently returned from just such an experience, as they participated in an international internship in exotic China.
Realizing the significance global exposure has when it comes to expanding personal and professional opportunities, Hannah and Jordan were attracted to international internships through CrossContinental.org. After exploring different options offered by the organization, they opted to spent ten weeks interning at a 4 Star Hotel in the heart of one of the most populous cities in the world, Beijing. In the attached video (http://youtu.be/B0gOA1rh5DI), the interns showcase their business internship abroad in China.
- Learn and Gain Work Experience through International Internships
Working closely with Cross-Continental Solutions, in an effort to boost their CVs and gain business skills in a global setting, Hannah returns happy bringing with her wonderful memories from her intern abroad experience. Enthusiastically chatting about her experience abroad, she says, “I have enjoyed myself in Beijing; I have learned a lot about the Chinese culture and way of work.”
Staying in private accommodations within the AC Embassy Hotel itself, Jordan and Hannah worked in tandem with the hotel staff in various departments. They had opportunities to learn about hotel management, hospitality, sales, and marketing.
This hotel project, located in central Beijing, afforded the graduates the opportunity to not only learn valuable business skills, but also allowed them to easily explore the city freely. The hotel, situated in a core trading area is adjacent to all types of exhibition halls, famous shopping centers and business establishments. It is just about 20 minutes from Tian'anmen Square.
- Accommodation and Meals Abroad
Speaking highly of the hotel accommodations themselves, Jordan had this to share: “I’ve found that the hotel we stayed at provided very satisfactory accomodation, food and service for us. We were provided with 3 meals a day with no hassle, clean and comfortable accommodation and any help we needed from the staff. All the members (of the staff) have treated us very well and made us feel welcome.”
Hanna added, "I’ve been very happy with the service from the hotel, the food, accommodation and location was great."
- Cultural Exposure, Networking, and Weekend Trips
Living and working in a foreign and unfamiliar land offers a treasure trove of potential future opportunities. Moreover, international exposure paves the way for increased networking, higher cultural intelligence, and lasting friendships. During their international internship, customized especially for them, Jordan and Hannah gained a wealth of experience from their time in China.
“I have learned some Chinese, met some lovely people who were very welcoming and great throughout the experience” Said Hannah. “We have seen some great places in and around Beijing and overall have really enjoyed ourselves.”
Jordon seems to agree with Hannah’s sentiments. “The experience of working and living in China will hopefully be a big boost to our CVs; we have made some good friends and done some networking.”
Recognizing the efforts of Cross-Continental Solutions, Jordan praises them, “I would definitely recommend Cross-Continental to anybody looking to explore a new place.” Hannah added, "Jenn was great, very knowledgeable and supportive. The price of the program is very reasonable and the cheapest I could find online."
