The International Builder's Show plans are in motion to introduce highly innovative products, as well as networking opportunities.

The countdown to the 2013 International Builders’ Show (IBS) has begun and with only about a month left until the unique and very informative residential construction show begins, there is a lot to look forward to.

IBS will be held January 22 to the 24 in Las Vegas and is one of the largest annual light construction shows in the world – according to buildersshow.com, the convention has “over miles and miles of the latest and most advanced building products and services ever assembled.” Sponsored by the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), the IBS is one of the most significant events for the home building industry and provides attendees with world-class education seminars, introductions to the most innovative products in the industry, hands-on demonstrations and amazing networking opportunities.

IBS is a draw to anyone in the industry; more than 60,000 professionals are expected to come from around the world for the 67th annual convention to either peruse or exhibit quality products and services linked to the industry.

Last year’s International Builders’ Show was a success and showcased the industry’s largest product display; from appliances, building accessories and constructions materials to various home furnishings and of course lighting. Some of our favorite lighting vendors that will have exhibits at IBS include Kichler Lighting, Progress Lighting and Sea Gull Lighting.

This won’t be the first IBS show for Sea Gull Lighting as they had the wonderful opportunity to participate with The Builder Concept Home 2011: KB Home GreenHouse. Sea Gull was able to equip the entire home with their award-winning ENERGY STAR qualified energy efficient light fixtures and ceiling fans; the KB GreenHouse made its debut at the 2011 International Builders Show.

This year NAHB has made sure that the 2013 IBS convention is another hit as they have improved its education program from 2012’s attendee feedback; more advanced level courses and in-depth sessions, more informative and specific programs on industry topics and daily keynote speakers.

Here are some more changes taken to 2013 IBS Education from buildersshow.com:

  •     Cut the total number of education sessions from 165 to just under 100, selecting only the very best from hundreds of submissions.
  •     Added more advanced-level sessions for seasoned industry veterans.
  •     Added Speed Learning sessions – fast paced 45-minute programs

The educational daily Master Sessions are in-depth, full-day intensive programs that dig deeper into specific industry topics. This year those Master Sessions are:

  •     Technology Trends, tools & Strategies: Draw Customers In & Enhance Their Home Buying Experience
  •     From Feeble Financials to Exceptional Earnings
  •     Lean Design: Eliminate Non-Value Waste & Achieve Breakthrough Profits

The 2013 IBS keynote speakers will be covering various topics and are as follows:

  •     Opening Ceremonies Keynote – Michael Eisner, Past Chairman and CEO of The Walt Disney Company, and Founder and CEO of the Tornante Company
  •     Keynote Panel – Robert Bauman, Eric Lipar and Tim Sullivan
  •     David Pogue, New York Times Technology Writer

In an interview with enlightenmentmag.com, Barry Rutenberg, NAHB Chairman, said the 2013 International Builders’ Show looks to continue its past successful conventions.

“NAHB’s International Builders’ Show is the event of the year for our industry, with everything you need in one place – from product suppliers and education sessions to networking opportunities and special events,” Rutenberg said. “With the housing industry showing signs of improvement, now is the time to take advantage of these resources to position ourselves for success.”

With more than 800 exhibitors displaying any and all products and components of the building industry, attendees should be able to see the most innovative products and designs from a range of vendors and companies while learning from the leading industry professionals as well as networking with people from across the country.
