Three out of four EARN Center job-seekers found employment using the green-certified InterviewStream platform.

Philadelphia has been hit hard by unemployment over the last year, especially the manufacturing industry where a majority of local welfare residents have worked

InterviewStream.com, the premier provider of video interviewing solutions, today announced new horizons for job-seeking Philadelphians embattled by job loss. With help from the InterviewStream suite of career-advancement and recruiting tools, two of the Philadelphia (EARN) Employment, Advancement and Retention Network Center's, operated by KRA Corporation at Germantown and Delancey, have put nearly fourteen-hundred unemployed individuals back to work, and have proved that a little training and a lot of confidence create the recipe for success.

"Philadelphia has been hit hard by unemployment over the last year, especially the manufacturing industry where a majority of local welfare residents have worked," said Miles Munz, co-founder of InterviewStream. "InterviewStream is thrilled to provide one of the tools which has made the EARN Centers' Work Certified course so successful in getting these residents prepared to re-enter the job market."

EARN Centers are Philadelphia neighborhood-based facilities that provide case management, job placement and other services to welfare clients to help them transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The model, organized by the KRA Corporation, encourages a results-oriented approach which addresses the obstacles that prevent people from entering the workforce and help welfare recipients become fully productive members of their communities.

Now, customers at participating EARN Centers, in the Germantown and Delancy neighborhoods, will be able to conduct virtual "mock" interviews using the InterviewStream technologies to help develop their verbal and non-verbal communication skills, as part of EARN's Work Certified course. The mock interviews are recorded using an internet-connected computer and webcam so that they can be reviewed online to help customers improve and enhance their interviewing technique and technical savvy. Once the interviews are perfected, they can be sent online to possible employers or the skills can be used during a real-time, face-to-face job interview. Furthermore, employers seeking EARN Center pre-certified workers will be able to customize their own virtual interviews using thousands of interview questions from industry-leading HR professionals saving their companies hundreds of man-hours and thousands of dollars in recruiting time.

"Job loss and long term public assistance produces self-doubt and uncertainty. Job training and interview preparedness produce confidence--the number one element our hiring managers are looking for in a candidate," said KRA Corporation representative Nate' Gordon. "With help from the InterviewStream platform we can now provide the most exclusive tools on the market to build our customers interviewing skills and thus offer confidence and hope to local residents seeking a brighter future."

In fact, another InterviewStream client-company recently said of their experience, "Interview Stream proved its worth from the very first client I worked with. The client was able to effectively develop his interviewing skills in only a handful of practice sessions. In fact, his first job interview after completing the practice sessions was a success! He was hired and is now gainfully and happily employed." Kim Baskett, Employment Facilitator, Office of Vocational Rehabilitation PA Department of Labor & Industry also said, "Interview Stream is very easy to use but what I found most useful was having the capability to track the user's progress by viewing each interview. The improvement in both interviewing techniques and self-confidence from the first to the last session was incredible! I look forward to assisting many more of my clients with the Interview Stream system."

Video interviewing allows not only a way for EARN Center job candidates to practice and perfect their interviews but it also provides numerous benefits to companies locally and around the country seeking to build their teams on fixed budget. InterviewStream's site, GreenInterview.com, was launched as a way to offer companies the opportunity to reduce their carbon imprint while gaining a more comprehensive understanding of a job candidate's background, experiences, interests and communication skills before either decides to travel by plane, train or automobile to meet in person. By implementing video interviewing into a recruiting platform, like the KRA Corporation has done with the Philadelphia EARN Centers, a company will help reduce their over-consumption of energy, reduce time and emissions associated with travel, save money on hiring and thus reduce their carbon footprint.

"We are confident that the tools InterviewStream has provided will further assist local EARN Center customers and various other job seekers with their communications skills while providing a much-needed three-fold solution to local hiring-companies seeking to change their fiscal and environmental climate; they save time, money and the atmosphere," Munz continued.
