InterviewStream Helps Philadelphians Go from Welfare to Work

Three out of four EARN Center job-seekers found employment using the green-certified InterviewStream platform.

Philadelphia has been hit hard by unemployment over the last year, especially the manufacturing industry where a majority of local welfare residents have worked, the premier provider of video interviewing solutions, today announced new horizons for job-seeking Philadelphians embattled by job loss. With help from the InterviewStream suite of career-advancement and recruiting tools, two of the Philadelphia (EARN) Employment, Advancement and Retention Network Center's, operated by KRA Corporation at Germantown and Delancey, have put nearly fourteen-hundred unemployed individuals back to work, and have proved that a little training and a lot of confidence create the recipe for success.

EARN Centers are Philadelphia neighborhood-based facilities that provide case management, job placement and other services to welfare clients to help them transition from welfare to self-sufficiency. The model, organized by the KRA Corporation, encourages a results-oriented approach which addresses the obstacles that prevent people from entering the workforce and help welfare recipients become fully productive members of their communities.

Now, customers at participating EARN Centers, in the Germantown and Delancy neighborhoods, will be able to conduct virtual "mock" interviews using the InterviewStream technologies to help develop their verbal and non-verbal communication skills, as part of EARN's Work Certified course. The mock interviews are recorded using an internet-connected computer and webcam so that they can be reviewed online to help customers improve and enhance their interviewing technique and technical savvy. Once the interviews are perfected, they can be sent online to possible employers or the skills can be used during a real-time, face-to-face job interview. Furthermore, employers seeking EARN Center pre-certified workers will be able to customize their own virtual interviews using thousands of interview questions from industry-leading HR professionals saving their companies hundreds of man-hours and thousands of dollars in recruiting time.
