Pittsburgh-based InventHelp attempts to submit an invention, Hydraulic Wheelchair, to companies for review.

An inventor from Mattapan, Mass. wanted a way to improve the day-to-day existence of wheelchair patients. To that end, she invented the patent-pending Hydraulic Wheelchair, a new type of wheelchair that would provide greater convenience and effectiveness than a standard wheelchair.

The Hydraulic Wheelchair would be a durable device that could be produced in a variety of sizes. It would utilize hydraulic technology to enable easier control by the caregiver. It would also enable easier transfers on and off the chair.

The inventor was inspired by wanting to be able to help wheelchair patients and caregivers. “I knew it can be difficult for a caregiver to manipulate a patient on and off a wheelchair,” said the inventor. “I decided to create an improved wheelchair that would aid this process.”

The original design was submitted to the Boston office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
