InventHelp Device Helps Cane Users Retrieve Dropped Or Out of Reach Items (BTM-1179)

InventHelp, a leading inventor service company, is working to submit the Handi Cane to companies in the hopes of a good faith review.

An inventor from Falling Waters, W.V., was inspired by personal struggles to design the Handi Cane. "I had to rely on a cane while recovering from hip surgery, and I had trouble retrieving items that I’d dropped," he said. "Since it was impossible for me to bend beyond a 90-degree plane, I didn’t know what to do, especially because I didn’t want to ask my wife for assistance since she is somewhat physically handicapped. This is why I designed a solution to this problem."

He then created a prototype of a device that provides an easier way for cane users to retrieve dropped items while maintaining appropriate stability. It eliminates the need to bend over or ask for assistance.

As a result, it promotes dignity and independence. Producible in design variations; the device is ideal for people who have physical disabilities or are recovering from surgery. The idea is patent pending.

The original design was submitted to the Baltimore office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
