In response to requests from thousands of publishers, the AppMakr team upgraded the app-creation platform so that users no longer need a Mac computer to self-publish apps to the iTunes App Store. With the upgrade, the publisher account set up process was reduced from over 30 mins to a simple four mouse clicks for all users -- both Mac and PC.

AppMakr Now Enables Both Mac & PC Users to Self-Publish iPhone Apps to the App Store

Not only did we just open the door to a huge number of new users, but we streamlined a very technical process that was taking users 30-40 minutes to complete and cut it down to 3-4 clicks for everyone — on both Mac and PC.

PointAbout’s AppMakr self-service mobile app building tool, which recently celebrated over 1.2 million downloads of AppMakr-created apps in the iTunes App Store, announced today that users no longer need a Mac computer to self-publish iPhone apps to the App Store. Previously, only the $999 full-service option was available to users who owned a PC.

Sean Shadmand, PointAbout co-founder and the originator of the AppMakr platform said, “We’ve heard the frustrations of potential users loud and clear. Not having a Mac was an obstacle for a large population of content publishers; therefore, we completely upgraded the platform. We're able to provide all potential users with the ability to fully exploit the long list of the advantages that come with publishing apps under their own name or brand.”

Shadmand continued, "Not only did we just open the door to a huge number of new users, but we streamlined a very technical process that was taking users 30-40 minutes to complete and cut it down to 3-4 clicks for everyone — on both Mac and PC."

This improvement comes on the heels of PointAbout's decision to make the service free for a limited time in celebration of of the 1.2 million downloads milestone. After recently upgrading the platform to include advanced Photo Gallery and Push Notification functionalities, the AppMakr team is continuing to look for ways to extend the value of the platform and the capabilities of the apps that users are able to create with it. In addition, AppMakr has recently enabled the App Quality Index which will help users identify ways to better ensure their app successfully meets Apple's selective approval process.

Daniel Odio, PointAbout's COO added, "We will continue to listen to the feedback from our publishers and tirelessly work to deliver rich experiences to the users of their AppMakr-created apps."

The newly upgraded platform with all new features is live now and can be accessed at http://AppMakr.com.
