Our clients rarely even have to speak to the IRS
Corte Madera, CA (PRWEB) January 05, 2012
IRS tax audits of corporations have been on the rise during the past two years—and tax professionals expect that trend to continue, according to a recent survey of corporate tax executives released by KPMG and reported by Reuters. Nearly two-thirds of the 890 executives in the survey reported an increase in IRS audit activities like examinations and appeals. Even more of those executives (67%) expect that federal tax disputes will increase in 2012.
ProActive Tax Solutions, a San Francisco Bay Area tax audit representative announces efficient, affordable tax audit advice and representation services to help businesses under audit. “With the government under the pressure of budget deficits, it makes sense that the IRS would turn up the heat by enforcing the rules on the books,” says Georgia Rogers, president of ProActive Tax Solutions.
Both the KPMG survey and the experience of professionals like Rogers were confirmed by an earlier report by the Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration. The July report found that the IRS had increased examinations of corporate tax returns in fiscal year 2010 by 5%. That increase paid off with an 18% boost in enforcement revenue.
More significant for next year, the report noted that the IRS had grown its enforcement staff by 19%. It also described a plan to study tax compliance of U.S. corporations in order to refine their formulas and capture more revenue. Similar studies of other taxpayer categories have relied on random audits, leading many professionals to anticipate more random audits of corporations in the coming year.
“This report just shows what we already know,” says Rogers. “The Bay Area IRS offices are fully staffed, and the new hires from 2010 are well trained and ready for audits. A company’s best defense during an audit is to get representation from somebody who knows the law and will be their advocate.”
San Francisco Bay Area tax preparation experts, ProActive Tax Solutions offers a free 30 minute tax audit consultation, and represents clients with reasonable package offers. “Our clients rarely even have to speak to the IRS,” says Rogers.
