Grand Junction, Colo. (Vocus) December 8, 2009
Ruby Canyon Engineering (RCE), an engineering consulting company whose main focus is greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, received its American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accreditation under ISO 14065, meeting the requirements for GHG validation and verification bodies, on October 9, 2009.
Now that RCE is accredited as a third-party GHG validating/verifying body – the first in Colorado and the Rocky Mountain Region – the company, under ISO 14065, is accredited to perform validations and verifications of GHG inventories and projects for the following programs and registries:
- Climate Action Reserve
- The Climate Registry
- California Climate Action Registry
- Chicago Climate Exchange
- American Carbon Registry
Companies in need of third-party GHG validation/verification services are turning toward ISO 14065 accredited verification bodies. After 2010, nearly all GHG programs and registries will require that all third-party GHG validation/verification services be performed by an ISO 14065 accredited entity.
RCE Vice President Michael Coté said, “The purpose of having a qualified third party perform greenhouse gas validation and verification activities is to provide confidence and transparency to parties that depend on the accuracy of greenhouse gas credits or offsets for their business, like project developers, investors or brokers. The ISO standards require that RCE declare competencies, has systems in place to maintain impartiality and provide a reasonable level of assurance for their verification statements.”
