We are doing everything we can to provide some stability and routine in the lives of the kids by providing them shelter and safety with families in the north of Israel

Israel Tennis Centers Foundation International Chairman, Larry Greenspon, a native of Chicago and current resident of Longboat Key, Florida, today announced an emergency program to provide safety and security to over 125 children and their coaches from the rockets falling in southern Israel. According to Greenspon, “The goal is to temporarily relocate 125 children plus coaches to the Haifa and Yokneam Israel Tennis Centers in northern Israel where they can be protected from the ongoing barrage of missiles that has made it impossible to keep our Beer Sheva, Ashkelon and Ofakim Tennis Centers down south open.”

Current Israel Tennis Center Foundation President, Alan Goldner commented from his New Jersey office how heartbreaking it is that so many children have had to abandon their daily training at the three Israel Tennis Centers in southern Israel. “For over a week since the attacks on Israel started our Tennis Centers in Ofakim, Ashkelon and Beer Sheva have been closed. Our children in those Tennis Centers have nowhere to go and no opportunity for a normal and safe life away from falling rockets. It’s terrible for children to feel threatened every day.”

For the fortunate children and coaches who are being absorbed temporarily by the Israel Tennis Centers in the north, it will give them a chance to escape the onslaught of rockets and daily security threats. The coaches and players are being hosted by Tennis Center families in Haifa and Yokneam where they will go to school with their hosts, train at the Tennis Center and participate in a regional Hanukkah tournament.
