Freeborders Governance Standards Recognized in Independent Industry Analyst Research Firm Report for Minimizing Outsourcing Risk

Company Processes and Procedures Help Protect Intellectual Property and Information Security for Clients

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) February 10, 2009 -- Freeborders, Inc., the leading global provider of offshore IT services and solutions delivered from centers of excellence in China, today announced that the company's governance standards were acknowledged in the Q4 2008 report by Forrester Research, "Handling IP Protection With Chinese Outsourcing Vendors: While The Concerns Are Real, Judicious Firms Can Minimize Outsourcing Risk".

In Forrester's assessment of IT governance standards in China, the leading Chinese IT and software services companies were recognized for actively implementing international IT governance standards, such as ISO and CMM. Specifically, Freeborders was among the leading software companies in China with Level 5 CMMI and ISO 27001 certifications.
"IT services firms in China are taking actions to bolster their IP protection for clients," said the noted report. "The controls they are putting in place include physical security, infrastructure controls, process and procedures, as well as efforts to foster a company culture toward IP protection."

"Our investments over the past decade have allowed us to increase client confidence by consistently delivering IT services that leverage honed processes and standards," said Jean Cholka, Chief Executive Officer of Freeborders. "We are honored to be noted in this Forrester report and continue to boost our culture, processes, domain expertise, and technical talent to effectively maintain this position for our clients continued success."

According to the report, those companies considering outsourcing or are thinking about sending work offshore to China need to work with their vendor to attain an acceptable level of control. This includes auditing vendor security controls, negotiating a service-level agreement (SLA) with IP protection terms, gaining appropriate legal protection, and using additional technical measures whenever necessary.
