Most of us have already been hit by Microsoft’s multi-billion advertising budget for Office 365. Ironically though, the least known feature is the biggest game changer for small businesses. That product is called Lync Online and is best described as a ‘hybrid’ between better known products: Cicso WebEx, Skype, and a few additional presence features.
As an active Microsoft Cloud Champions Partner, CyberStreams has seen firsthand that most customers are moving over to Office 365 mainly for email and SharePoint use. CyberStreams is now banking on the fact that these small businesses will soon get around to using the rest of what they are already paying for. That is why the firm is gearing up to offer add-in services which will improve video/phone conferencing across the product for small and medium sized firms.
The most recent add-in enhances the Lync Online web conferencing functionality. Specifically, it provides the ability to easily integrate Lync Online with calls over a traditional phone line or cell phone. As Lync already provides an simple means to keep employees in constant touch and facilitates computer to computer conferencing, the addition of the ability to call in to an occasional third party cell phone completes the circle. In particular, this product is targeting companies with distributed and on-the-move employees (realtors, consultants, enterprise business sales staff, etc.)
The next big change on the horizon for the CyberStreams Business Phone Systems division will be to fully integrate Lync Online with their customers’ traditional PBX phone systems. This will include the ability to click on contacts in outlook and have it dial out from your desktop SIP phone, as well as other UC features (unified communications). CyberStreams is continually working with Microsoft and related Business IP Telephony vendors to bring such a product to market for their clients. Currently, the goal is to be integrating the cloud fully with client PBXs by the coming summer.
Microsoft’s Office 365 was released last June 28th. The cloud computing package includes a variety of business productivity products. CyberStreams has been working with the product since the early stages of the Office 365 beta cycle to insure its smooth implementation with its customers.
