The Board of Directors of the Intelligent Transportation Society of America (ITS America), the leading advocate for ITS development and deployment in the United States, today announced the appointment of Scott F. Belcher as President and CEO effective September 10, 2007.
“Scott brings a wealth of experience with him, as well as a keen sense of who we serve and what our members need in order to meet their goals,” said Michael C. Doyle, Chairman of ITS America’s Board of Directors. “He arrives at a time when his leadership, expertise and previous experiences align succinctly with the goals and objectives of our strategic plan.”
Belcher brings to ITS America more than 20 years of private and public sector experience in Washington, DC. He previously served as Executive Vice President and General Counsel at the National Academy of Public Administration. Prior to that role, he was the Managing Director for Environmental Affairs and Associate General Counsel at the Air Transport Association and Vice President for Property Management at the National Multi-Housing Association.
“I am honored and excited to have been selected to lead this great organization,” said Belcher. “I believe there is a tremendous opportunity to take ITS America and its vision to an even greater level. The need to raise awareness of the value of ITS among the traveling public and the measurable impact technology has on our nation’s transportation network is paramount. I am excited to take on this challenge and look forward to working with the members of ITS America.”
Belcher holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Virginia, a Master’s in Public Policy from Georgetown University, and a Bachelor’s of Arts from the University of Redlands.
