The expanded program will start on June 16 and end August 22nd 2008 and will be located on the campus of the University of Illinois in Champaign. IllinoisVENTURES, an early stage venture capital firm, will provide the capital, mentoring, office space, and equipment. iVentures10, sponsored by IllinoisVENTURES, is a new kind of summer intern program for computer science students with a great idea for software or web based start-up company. During the 10 summer weeks, student teams will develop their idea into a working prototype and lay the groundwork to launch their start-up. While students are able to propose ideas in all areas of technology, there is a particular focus this year in ideas and concepts that build upon the open Web platform.

To this end, iVentures10 has partnered with Mozilla Labs. The partnership with Mozilla Labs will also provide unique opportunities for teams to build upon exciting new open Web technologies, participate in their development, and have their projects promoted to millions of potential users worldwide.

"We're excited to support the iVentures10 program to promote and accelerate the development and release of innovative Web products and technologies," said Chris Beard, VP and General Manager of Mozilla Labs.

"We are thrilled to provide some of the brightest student teams in the world with the opportunity to build innovative next generation web applications," said Rob Schultz, Senior Director for IllinoisVENTURES. "We believe that innovative new technology platforms like Mozilla Labs' Weave and Prism will enable the next generation of web applications that will deliver a more personalized and relevant user experience.
