By providing affordable options for high school completion, a regionally accredited program like James Madison’s can easily increase a school’s resources and help students remain motivated, earn better grades and graduate sooner.
Peachtree Corners, GA (PRWEB) November 06, 2012
James Madison High School announced that the online high school will be an exhibitor at the 2012 Georgia School Counselors Conference. The conference is hosted by the Georgia School Counselors Association (GSCA) and will be held November 7-9 in Athens, GA.
During the three day conference, GSCA members will have the opportunity to attend a variety of lectures and workshops, network and meet with leading industry vendors, like James Madison High School (http://www.jmhs.com/). Membership is comprised of those engaged in school counseling or related activities.
“The responsibility of today’s high school counselor is more complex than ever,” said Dr. Leslie Gargiulo, Chief Education Officer for James Madison High School. “Funding cutbacks in most school systems has made it challenging for many counselors to give students the attention they deserve. By providing affordable options for high school completion, a regionally accredited program like James Madison’s can easily increase a school’s resources and help students remain motivated, earn better grades and graduate sooner.”
An Advocate for School Counselors
James Madison online high school offers several program options, including general and college prep homeschool programs and high school credit recovery. Earlier this year, James Madison High School became one of the first schools to implement The Common Core State Standards -- well in advance of the 2014 implementation deadline.
A state led initiative; The Common Core State Standards Initiative is intended to standardize the learning expectations of students grades K-12 among the more than 130,000 primary and secondary schools across the United States. The desired outcome is a curriculum that transcends state boundaries and fully aligns with today’s college entrance requirements and work expectations.
“We have had a positive experience working with James Madison,” said Kim H. Wagoner, Dropout Prevention Coordinator, Randolph County Schools. “JMHS has given us an education alternative for our students who do not fit in the traditional high school.”
