James Schramko is getting business owners to ask themselves: “What assumptions have I made that I need to reassess so that I can grow my business to the next level?” The Web business owner and known Internet marketing specialist released another video this week, illustrating how companies and other commercial ventures can achieve long-term growth. According to Schramko, the key to business growth lies in doing things differently as the business – and perhaps more significantly, the market – evolves.

Schramko points out that every entrepreneur needs to be informed about the current market and to discover the relevance of existing strategies and systems to their business. From management to marketing, from hiring more people to meet revenue targets to outsourcing processes to keep costs down, the Web business owner says that it is the job of every business operator to constantly reevaluate if what they are doing for their company is still right for them.

“Because your business grows,” Schramko explains, “and matures and develops, you’ll need to make changes that adapt to the new version of your business.”

The SuperFastBusiness owner and developer of various Internet marketing products has, himself, been making changes to his business by eliminating certain elements. Schramko’s more recent change was to close his affiliate program. In place of the commissions-based program, Schramko now offers a variety of partnership opportunities to interested parties such as special joint ventures (especially for leaders of big business communities) and the reseller program.

In addition to closing his commissions-based program, Schramko has also discontinued onstage speaking engagements and now concentrates on producing short yet informative videos like this one to deliver up-to-the-minute industry news and impart his extensive knowledge on running a business online.

Schramko has also changed the way he unveiled new products his company develops. In previous years, the Web business owner would concentrate most of his efforts on a product release. Today, he chooses to simply introduce new products to his growing online communities in FastWebFormula, SilverCircle, or SuperFastBusiness.

“Now in my business,” Schramko shares, “I do — at a minimum — assessments every three months. Every three months I fly overseas, meet with the team, go through the business, and recheck all of our assumptions to see if they’re still relevant. Making those spot checks helps us to make better decisions and that’s why the business is strong and continues to be as best as it can be optimized for the current climate, based on where we’re at as a business.”

Constantly changing as the business changes allows companies and entrepreneurs to potentially tap into new markets, to spread the risks or eliminate them altogether, and to realize a long-term vision. Whether it’s completely altering the business model or implementing simple modifications to operations, Schramko is encouraging business owners today to ask themselves: “What assumptions have I made that I need to reassess so that I can grow my business to the next level?”
