Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club will be closed until December 20, 2014 for an extensive water conserving landscaping project.

It’s important we all do our part to save as much water as we can. We are confident our patrons will enjoy the beautiful desert-style landscaping, and also feel better about playing at a water-conserving course.

JC Golf, part of the JC Resorts family, has closed one of its eight San Diego golf courses last month for an extensive landscaping project to reduce turf.

Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club, located at 14050 Carmel Ridge Road in San Diego, California, closed on October 21, 2014. The $4.4 million project includes the removal of 50.5 acres of turf and the redesign of the course for a desert-scape environment. The brand-new course will open to the public on December 20, 2014.

JC Golf expects to reduce water usage about 35 million gallons annually when the renovation is complete, equivalent to 278 households worth of annual water consumption. Governor Jerry Brown declared a drought State of Emergency for California in January of this year, and the San Diego County Water Authority (SDCWA) has since incentivized major water users, like golf courses, to eliminate turf in an effort to save water.

“We are happy to implement this water-saving project at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club,” commented Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club General Manager, Kevin Hwang. “Especially in this devastating drought, and in a semi-arid climate like San Diego’s, it’s important we all do our part to save as much water as we can. We are confident our patrons will enjoy the beautiful desert-style landscaping, and also feel better about playing at a water-conserving course,” Hwang added.
