Maggie’s List Honors Fiscally Conservative Women Serving in 113th Congress on Thursday, June 13th Governor Jeb Bush Headlines Capitol Hill Event Supporting Elected Women

Governor Jeb Bush is a special guest for Maggie's List DC fundraiser honoring fiscally conservative women in Congress

Governor Jeb Bush states, "Maggie's List is the leading voice that rejects the misguided belief that women are inherently liberal voters."

Maggie’s List, a federal political action committee (PAC) dedicated to electing fiscally conservative women to federal office, announces a major event honoring fiscally conservative women elected to the 113th Congress. Governor Jeb Bush will be making a special appearance to headline the event that recognizes and honors women serving in Congress who believe in fiscal conservatism, less government, more personal responsibility and strong national security.

Governor Jeb Bush states, “I am proud to be a part of this event honoring fiscally conservative women serving in the 113th Congress. Maggie’s List was founded in 2010 in my home state of Florida and has seen outstanding success and growth in the past two election cycles. It is a leading voice that rejects the misguided belief that women are inherently liberal voters. In a short time, Maggie’s List has risen to a level of national prominence electing and supporting conservative women.”

“Maggie’s List is incredibly proud of our endorsed women serving in the 113th Congress and this event draws attention to the service and commitment our elected officials bring to the U.S. House of Representatives and U.S. Senate. We are very grateful to Governor Jeb Bush for enthusiastically serving as our honored guest. His involvement is a positive reflection of the strength of our membership and the successful work being done by Maggie’s List,” states Sandra Mortham, Maggie’s List Chairman and former Florida Secretary of State. Mortham continues, “Our numbers are growing by the day and we welcome the opportunity to support more promising women candidates who stand for our values.”

According to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers, women comprise over 56% of all voters, but less than 20% of representation at the Congressional level. A mere 293 women have ever served in the United States Congress. Four states have never elected a woman to the U.S. House of Representatives or U.S. Senate. Maggie’s List was founded to address these inequities and improve representation of fiscally conservative women. Maggie’s List supports women candidates who stand for fiscal conservatism, less government, more personal responsibility and strong national security.

Sue Lowden, Vice Chairman of Maggie’s List and former U.S. Senate Candidate for Nevada notes, “Maggie’s List established a strong voice in the past two election cycles by endorsing impressive women candidates. The upcoming Capitol Hill event with Governor Jeb Bush helps us grow and strengthen so we can elect more fiscally conservative women to Congress. For example, Shelley Moore Capito has already received the Maggie’s List endorsement for her West Virginia Senate bid in 2014. Her race is just the beginning as we encourage and support strong and talented women running for office.”
