This may be bigger than most realize at this point.

In a widely anticipated announcement, Facebook made news today by announcing they are getting into search.

This Facebook search is called Graph Search. It's about Social Search vs. Open Web Search.

The following are comments from Jeff Kagan, Tech Analyst on this story.

“This may be bigger than most realize at this initial stage. Facebook is introducing a new kind of non-web-search. They call it Knowledge Graph Search. First thoughts are that this Facebook search is less likely to hurt Google than speculated. However this new search could indeed impact Google on a growing scale over the next few years if it clicks with users. If I were Google, I would see this as a warning shot across their bow.”

“Can Facebook transform the search engine world? If the answer is yes than this is a bigger threat to Google. The big question that seems to be unanswered is, how does Facebook monetize wireless?”
