SecurityCoverage, Inc. announced on June 14 they are offering a new service called PhoneProtect, which they say, combats the threat of lost or stolen devices like smartphones, tablets and computers.

Technology industry analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.

“I was introduced to a new service by SecurityCoverage called PhoneProtect which directly addresses a growing need. Protecting our private data that sits on a growing number of smartphones.” Says wireless analyst Jeff Kagan.

“Most smartphone users keep valuable and private data on their devices, yet they have no protection for that data. Some create a private security code, which is much better than nothing, but the data is still vulnerable if the device is lost or stolen. There are a variety of apps for smartphones that let you take control of your smartphone if it is lost or stolen.” Says analyst Kagan.

“That is what PhoneProtect by SecurityCoverage does. It helps you protect your data. Protecting smartphones is a must. We have so much personal and confidential information there and it is vulnerable. We all seem to know that this is a security risk when we misplace our smartphone. Our minds think of all the bad things that can happen. This is the time when we should reach out and protect ourselves. Unfortunately after we find the phone we put it off and are still in the same vulnerable place.” Says Kagan.

SecurityCoverage, Inc. says more than 7.1 million smartphones were damaged, lost or stolen over the last year alone in the US. Apps are available for Google Android and Apple iPhone iOS operating systems and devices. PhoneProtectSM also protects against malicious apps after your system is backed up.
