Time Warner Cable and Common Sense Media celebrate Internet Safefy Month according to their press release.

Principal analyst Jeff Kagan offers comment.

In recognition of National Internet Safety Month, Time Warner Cable unveiled a new campaign to help parents teach their children to safely use the Internet and other technlologies.

“The Internet is so entwined in our lives that we just assume like the telephone and cable television service, that is it safe. However it is not safe. It is an open spigot for tons of information, but it is a double edge sword. Many people get burned by the Internet, from virus to bad web sites of all sorts,” says cable television analyst Jeff Kagan.

“Having Time Warner Cable on your side goes a long way to making many feel more secure. Even though Time Warner Cable is on your side, don’t let your guard down. Stay alert,” says Kagan.

Digital Passport is a mobile app that helps parents address key issues their children face online, everyday. This has to do with things like safety and security, cyber bullying and privacy.
