Jim and Marilyn Helzer, owners of the famous Quarter Horse Refrigerator and of JEH Stallion Station, are thrilled to send thoroughbred Euroears, an upset winner of the six-furlong Palos Verdes Stakes in late January, to the 2011 Dubai World Cup. Euroears will race with his trainer, Bob Baffert, in the $2 million Golden Shaheen for sprinters at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai.

The Dubai World Cup is a thrilling, invitation-only international horse racing championship, including hundreds of the top horses and trainers. Legendary trainer Bob Baffert has ridden three Kentucky Derby winners, won six other races in the U.S., and is currently preparing 2011 Derby candidates the Factor and Jaycito.

Based off of Euroear’s performance at the Palo Verdes Stakes, Baffert thinks there is something special about Euroears and is pleased to be riding such a “really nice horse.” Euroears was foaled in Kentucky by Sire Langfuhr and Dam Unky and Ally. Langfur was a champion sprinter in Canada, winning nearly $700,000, while Unky and Ally had two wins with earnings of nearly $100,000.

“We are so excited to be invited to perform in this year’s Dubai World Cup,” said Jim Helzer, Euroear’s owner. “This is a race for some of the best thoroughbreds in the world to compete. We at JEH Stallion Station appreciate this unique opportunity.”

Seven-year-old Euroear’s powerful speed was what caught the attention of the invitation-only Dubai World Cup. The thoroughbred has had a strong record, highlighted in his stinging defeat over the 2-5 favorite, Smiling Tiger, in the Palos Verdes Stakes. In all, he has won 9 out of 17 starts.

JEH has three locations in Texas, New Mexico, and Oklahoma with hundreds of acres. JEH not only proudly owns top race horses, but also specializes in equine reproductive services and horse breeding.

The Golden Shaheen will be held on Saturday, March 26 at Meydan Racecourse in Dubai.
