It's refreshing to see a young woman in Hollywood who, despite making millions, refuses to succumb to the common, frivolous spending of her peers.

Jennifer Lawrence has emerged as Hollywood's newest "it" girl, garnering fame for her starring role in the Hunger Games series and recently winning an Oscar for "Best Actress" in Silver Linings Playbook. However, as GoBankingRates detailed in a recent profile of the star, Lawrence is also a talent off the screen when it comes to finance, naming her the top personal finance role model for members of Generation Y.

"It's refreshing to see a young woman in Hollywood who, despite making millions, refuses to succumb to the common, frivolous spending of her peers," stated GoBankingRates managing editor, Casey Bond.

For Jennifer Lawrence, salary growth has happened at a meteoric pace since her film career started blossoming in 2010. In fact, she was included in the Forbes Women to Watch list, which cites her paycheck for Catching Fire to come in at more than $10 million, which, when combined with earnings from several other projects, may make her one of the top paid actresses in 2013.

Even so, she has remained admirably economical with her day-to-day spending. GoBankingRates' profile of the actress lists a number of examples in which Lawrence has demonstrated her frugality, including:

-Living in the same three-bedroom apartment since she moved to Los Angeles several years ago
-Looking for bargains when grocery shopping and clipping coupons
-Driving the same Volkswagen she’s owned for years

"A lot of young eyes are on Jennifer Lawrence, and for once, we can actually feel good about Gen-Yers emulating their favorite actress," Bond added.

While GoBankingRates identifies Jennifer Lawrence as the top personal financial expert for Generation Y, the site also points out that anyone, young or old, can take several cues from her on striking a good balance between earning and spending — proof that not all million-dollar celebrities are wasteful with their finances.
