Inspired by a preview in a movie about a father wanting to write a book for his son, author Jennifer Ward decides to live her dream and write her own children’s book. Now, she brings a charming tale for little boys and girls in her new publication, Penelope Goes to the Library. In this vibrant picture book, readers will meet Penelope and Emily and together, they will discover the wonders a library holds. They will develop an appreciation to books and the essence of reading especially at a very young age.
The book is about a stuffed elephant, Penelope. Emily and Penelope have a unique brand of friendship. Emily brings Penelope with her anywhere she goes. They both love to go places, but today is different. They are going to the library for the first time! Penelope is scared and nervous. They don’t have any idea what to expect in this visit, but they are also brimming with excitement to find out what they will discover there. In this fun-filled adventure, Penelope has a myriad of questions in her head. Will she get lost, or will she enjoy what she will find there?
The book is very informative for the children since it talks about a real place. It touches upon all the true facts about the library, making the readers well-informed about the place and the things they can discover there. It will also be a valuable tool for the librarians to bring to daycare centers, or to their story time to inform children what it’s really like to be in a library. Filled with vibrant and lively illustrations and with the story set in simple text, children won’t only learn and discover new things, but they will also have a fascinating experience as they accompany Penelope and Emily in their awesome adventure.
