Goal is to Raise $1.5 Million Across the Country for Go Red For Women Movement to Help Fight Heart Disease

In the first year of our Maintenance Partners for Life campaign, we were able to raise awareness, educate our community on heart disease and exceed our national fundraising goal. We are excited to build on this momentum and continue to raise much-needed funds for heart disease prevention

Today, Jiffy Lube® service centers in the Greater Sacramento and Central Valley announce their participation in the second year of the company's Maintenance Partners for Life campaign to support the American Heart Association's® (AHA) Go Red For Women movement. Heart disease is the nation's number one killer of women and men, and Jiffy Lube is committed to raising more than $1.5 million between January 28 and March 16 to help stamp out the disease. Last year, Greater Sacramento and Central Valley Jiffy Lube service centers raised more than $40,000 for the local AHA chapter.

Research shows that many people are unaware of threats to both their heart health and vehicle health. Cardiovascular disease kills approximately 460,000 women per year, averaging one woman per minute and according to a recent survey conducted by American Automobile Association (AAA), most car owners have misperceptions about proper vehicle maintenance. The survey also showed that car owners who were not sure about proper maintenance schedules sometimes did either too little or too much maintenance. The Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life campaign stresses the importance of being vigilant about heart health and vehicle health, and educates people about smart, preventive maintenance for their bodies and vehicles. Customers will receive valuable information on keeping both their body and vehicle "engines" performing at their best.

"In the first year of our Maintenance Partners for Life campaign, we were able to raise awareness, educate our community on heart disease and exceed our national fundraising goal. We are excited to build on this momentum and continue to raise much-needed funds for heart disease prevention," said Donald Fowler, Sacramento Jiffy Lube Franchise. "I invite everyone in Sacramento to join us in the fight against heart disease, helping make an impact nationally and in our own backyard."

Beginning January 28, local Jiffy Lube service centers will promote heart health awareness with special events, including the launch of the interactive web site http://www.reddressme.com; promoting fashionable awareness for the heart. Customers can participate in the fundraising campaign by donating $3 to Go Red For Women and in return will receive a Jiffy Lube Maintenance Partners for Life savings book worth $100 in vehicle preventive-maintenance savings. The book also features recipes for healthy meals and tips for living a healthier lifestyle.

"About every twenty-six seconds an American will have a coronary event, and about every minute someone will die from one," said Andrea Hull, Director of Marketing for the American Heart Association's Sacramento Chapter. "The continued commitment of Jiffy Lube to the Go Red For Women movement will help promote heart disease prevention in Sacramento. The funds raised through their Maintenance Partners for Life campaign directly impact the local communities in which they are raised and our fight against heart disease."
