The concept was in discussion for more than ten years after feedback from woodworkers and hobbyists said jig saws were too large, too heavy or too high from the surface.

Jig saw users are excited to see the new Craftsman Nextec 12.0-volt lithium-ion compact jig saw kit hit the market, and members of the ToolSelect community are itching to try the tool for themselves and post their reviews on ToolSelect.com.

The new jig saw design was heavily influenced by user feedback that said most jig saws were too large, too heavy or generally difficult to control. The Craftsman Nextec jig saw kit was built with a palm-grip body and low center of gravity intended to give users more control, especially when making curved cuts.

“The concept was in discussion for more than ten years after feedback from woodworkers and hobbyists said jig saws were too large, too heavy or too high from the surface,” says Joe Turoff, who helped manufacture the tool. “This compact tool design literally forms to your hand and hugs the work piece for ultimate control in all types of work, from expensive surfaces to cutting intricate patterns in thin stock.”

A variable-speed dial gives users a range of 1,400-2,400 SPMs to maximize speed and efficiency when working with a number of materials. The palm grip with over-mold is meant to let users hold the tool in many positions while staying low to the work surface. The tool uses a 5/8” blade stroke for cutting and scrolling through thick and thin materials.

Convenience features like a fuel gauge, LED work light and tool-less blade change are intended to make any project easier, whether through better vision or quicker blade changes.

The kit includes the jig saw, one blade, a QuickBoost battery charger and a 12.0-volt Die-Hard® lithium-ion battery.

“Our members not only love our video tool reviews, which show the opinion of one of our tool testers, but a large part of the fun of our site is when members post their own reviews,” says Stephen Glaesman, CEO with ToolSelect. “We expect to see a lot of chatter about this jig saw because of its advancements in grip and center of gravity leading to the claim of giving users more control.”
