Author Jillian Capodiferro lives by the motto, “honesty is the best policy.” In her new book, “Ivory’s Present” (published by Trafford Publishing), a catfish, seeped in misery, learns to take the honest advice and precious gift of his new friend and change his life for the better.

“The book is about giving advice and not knowing whether the other person will ultimately take the good advice or throw it away,” explains Capodiferro. “It’s about giving and not looking back to measure how your advice is faring.”

Beneath the crashing waves, oysters Ivory and Grace are given a great task by the king. They must go out into the ocean and do good deeds. Ivory and Grace swim out and part ways. Soon, Ivory stumbles upon Slog, a grumpy catfish who is dirty and tired of eating garbage. Hoping to make his life better, Ivory gives Slog a very special gift, but what will Slog do with it?

Capodiferro hopes that children reading her book will “evaluate themselves and be the best person and make the best choices.”
