On April 22nd, 2010, New York City based internet music database Jingle Punks (http://www.jinglepunks.com ) will present the first west coast Jingle Schmingle, the official launch of Jingle Punks West Coast, at The Libertine on Sunset Blvd.
Founded by Jared Gutstadt and Dan Demole in 2008, Jingle Punks is an online music database that contains over 20,000 tracks of indie rock, hip-hop, punk, funk, orchestral and various types of production music for licensing purposes. All 20,000 tracks are searchable in their proprietary search engine, "The Jingle Player," a specialized technology that has several patents pending.
Jingle Punks has created a system that allows music supervisors, editors and producers to find music using both musical and non-musical terms. Variety Magazine put it best when they said, “Unlike regular stock libraries, Jingle Punks allows the client to search its online database not only by genre, subgenre and tempo, but also cultural reference and similar artists.”
You are just as likely to find a track in the Jingle Player by typing in the word Green Day, Coldplay or Snoop as you are by typing cultural references such as "Oceans 11", "Juno" or "Wes Anderson." One click and one fee gives producers access to the most cost effective way of scoring original content.
In addition to the library, Jingle Punks has also custom composed numerous music packages (theme songs, featured promos and more) for shows including "The Real Housewives of Atlanta" on Bravo, "Pawn Stars" on History and "Engaged & Underage" on MTV. By crowd-sourcing composer services, Jingle Punks acts as a bridge between many of today’s hottest composers and productions looking for a cost effective solution to their music needs.
Their unique blend of services and content has garnered Jingle Punks substantial press; they have been featured in various industry trades and business publications including CNN, and Business Week who stated that the company was, “music licensing meets crowdsourcing,” and recognized them as, “one of America’s most promising startups.”
The “Jingle Schmingle” and West Coast Launch will begin at 7pm at The Libertine at 8210 W. Sunset Blvd in Los Angeles, and will feature a special performance by Philadelphia based duo Chiddy Bang, performing their hit single “Opposite of Adults.” As per the usual when Jingle Punks throws an event, Jingle Guy will be on site. Jingle Guy, the Jingle Punks Mascot, has quickly become a staple at music and culture events. Jingle Guy's main purpose in life is to, “rid the world of bad music, give out awkward hugs and chug 40's with the whose who of the media elite.” Guests at the event will include heads of development and music heads from most of the major networks as well as an appearance by former Guns N Roses drummer, Matt Sorum.
