Kevin Williams, noted and highly-collected nautical fine art photographer, will be picking up some new collectors in the future. New England Lightworks announced today that it will offer limited-edition nautical works by Kevin Williams to the public for the first time beginning on October 15, 2009. Until now, Williams' works were available almost exclusively to high-end collectors worldwide.

Williams' photography focuses on nautical subjects, the people and stuff of the sea. A member of the esteemed Royal Photographic Society, Williams' striking black-and-white photography has been described as "mesmerizing" by both collectors and critics alike. Williams' unique ability to "capture light and place" along with his exacting attention to fine detail has established him firmly among a rare handful of noteworthy nautical photographers worldwide.

When asked about his decision to offer his works publicly for the first time, Williams commented, "My decision was based solely on my desire to explore new venues and opportunities. I enjoy people and look forward to becoming more engaged in promoting and sharing photography with a new generation of talented artists and collectors."

Williams has developed an enthusiastic following over the past twenty years. Although rare proof sets bring as much as $50,000, his limited edition images fall into the far more reasonable thousand-dollar plus range and typically sell out within hours or days of availability. Some of his rarer works bring upwards of $10,000.

Williams' limited editions remain rare by today's standards. He does not produce open editions, books, posters, unsigned or editions greater than 50 - nor does he plan to do so in the future. Generally, fewer than 75 prints of any image he creates ever exists. Some editions number as low as only 5. Unlike many artists, Williams' produces, signs and numbers each of his works personally. "I create every image from conception to the final print. It is time-consuming and expensive. However, I believe the soul of the photographer is the defining element of their work," Williams added.

Williams recently announced a new series of photographic workshops, New England Lightshops™, in 2010. "I have been so privileged to be a part of this amazing community," Williams remarked. "Photography has been an amazing gift to me in so many ways. I look forward to providing critical insight, inspiration and support to new generations of photographic artists."
