Singapore Infocomm Firms Upbeat About Growth
Survey shows many are still hiring and six in ten expect to do well this year.
Singapore (PRWEB) February 19, 2009 -- Six in 10 Singapore infocomm companies say they can still grow this year despite the economic downturn and a significant number will continue hiring, according to a new survey by the Singapore Infocomm Technology Federation (SiTF), which was released in January this year.
Thirty-three multinational companies (MNCs) and 49 Singapore firms were polled by the SiTF last month, with the aim of gathering feedback on how the sector is doing. The SiTF represents 400 infocomm companies with operations here, including Hewlett-Packard and Microsoft.
Of the two groups of companies, the MNCs were generally more bullish about growth prospects than local firms. Despite this, more local companies - nearly half - say they will continue hiring this year, compared to one-third of MNCs. Most of the jobs available are in information technology, engineering and sales and marketing.
