John R. Carns has been appointed as general manager of Waldorf Astoria Orlando. In this role, Carns is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the 498-room resort that features the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club, a 24,000-square foot Waldorf Astoria Spa by Guerlain, 28,000 square feet of dedicated Waldorf Astoria meeting space, and signature Waldorf Astoria food and beverage establishments that include Peacock Alley and Bull & Bear restaurant.

John R. Carns has been appointed as general manager of Waldorf Astoria Orlando. In this role, Carns is responsible for all aspects of the operation of the 498-room resort that features the Waldorf Astoria Golf Club, a 24,000-square foot Waldorf Astoria Spa by Guerlain®, 28,000 square feet of dedicated Waldorf Astoria meeting space, and signature Waldorf Astoria food and beverage establishments that include Peacock Alley® and Bull & Bear® restaurant.

Waldorf Astoria Orlando is part of the Bonnet Creek Resort, a 482-acre vacation destination conveniently nestled just outside the gates of Walt Disney World® Resort. It is connected via an expansive convention center to the neighboring Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek.

Carns comes to Orlando from the Boca Beach Club, a property he opened as general manager after a $120M renovation. Boca Beach Club is part of the Boca Raton Resort and Club, a Waldorf Astoria Resort. Carns has a proven track record of leadership success across diverse hotel brands and departments, including The Ritz-Carlton Naples, where he was director of operations. He also has had experience at several Luxury Resorts properties, including general manager of both the Georgetown Inn and Latham Hotel in Washington, DC and hotel manager of the Ft. Lauderdale Grande Hotel and Yacht Club. With Marriott International, Carns held positions in Texas, Louisiana and Georgia over the span of two decades.

Carns attended the University of Texas El Paso and holds an Associate Degree in Applied Sciences Hotel/Motel Management from AHMLA. He and his wife, Tammy, are proud parents of two children, daughter Keirsey, 13 and son Casey, 10.
