John Guiliano’s 2012 book, “Inside the Giant Electric Machine” (published by Trafford Publishing), which is getting a revived marketing push in 2013, is an innovative idea in electrical education. Rather than a traditional novel, Guiliano has penned a screenplay to teach his readers about electricity generation.
“The name of the series of books is ‘Inside the Giant Electric Machine.’” Guiliano explains. “Volume one is titled ‘The Giant Water Cooling Pump’ and features a highly skilled and diverse team working together in support of the giant electric generating machine. The team understands the importance of working together, safely and getting the job done right the first time in support of a common goal, the success of the giant electric generating machine.”
Determined to show his characters and the professions they represent with dignity, he created the lead characters Louie and Square Head, who are the team leaders. They treat the tradesmen and women with respect and dignity, always keeping the common goal in mind.
Guiliano hopes his book will inspire younger readers to consider the electrical power profession. “With the aging population of tradesmen and women,” he says, “I think it is very important to gain the attention of young men and women in hopes of inspiring a whole new generation of engineers, tradesmen and women.”
