In “The Kittyfields and the Practical Joke” (published by Archway Publishing), two mischievous raccoons play a practical joke on an unsuspecting family of cats. The story shows children how impulsive actions can hurt others.
“Working in the hay field gave me the name Kittyfields,” author John P. Nichols explains. “I wanted to write a humorous story that teaches respect for others.”
The whimsical tale is accompanied by full-color illustrations drawn by Nichols’ daughter, Christina. Nichols hopes that the book will encourage children to think about how their actions might affect others.
An excerpt from “The Kittyfields and the Practical Joke”:
When they got home and turned on the lights, they saw that their food was all gone. The Kittyfields didn’t know what to do, and since they didn’t catch any fish that day, they just had a drink of water and went to bed hungry. It was a long, miserable night for the kittens.
