Facing difficult times in his life, national best-selling author and journalist, Jon Katz found his voice and heart as a farm owner, hospice volunteer and dog lover. Katz will be this year’s featured speaker at the 22nd Annual One from Heart Awards Breakfast, the signature fundraising event for Pathways Home Health & Hospice. Attendees at this fundraising event will hear Katz’s highly endearing, often funny, stories about his relationship with his dogs, and how they brought warmth and love to his and other’s lives.
The One from the Heart Awards breakfast is scheduled for Friday, October 5, 2012, 7:30-9:30 a.m., at the Crowne Plaza Cabana Hotel in Palo Alto, California. This event attracts more than 600 community leaders, medical professionals, and philanthropists annually. Emmy, Peabody, and Murrow Award winner Rita Williams of KTVU Channel 2 is returning for her 13th year as host of the event.
Jon Katz has written twenty-one books—eight novels, one collection of short stories, and twelve works of nonfiction—including Soul of a Dog, Izzy & Lenore, Dog Days, A Good Dog, and The Dogs of Bedlam Farm. His most recent title, The Story of Rose, A Man and His Dog, will be released August 6, 2012 in electronic format.
He is also known for his contributions to the online magazine HotWired, the technology website Slashdot, and the online news magazine Slate.com. He has also written for The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Slate, Rolling Stone, and the AKC Gazette. He has worked for CBS News, The Boston Globe, The Washington Post, and the Philadelphia Inquirer.
