Journeyful.com, an online travel agency that combines e-commerce with social media, has today announced that it has officially launched its Referral RewardsTM system – a move designed to further enable hotels to monetize their social networks.

This is how it works:

When a person accepts a Journeyful.com invitation sent by a hotel or a friend, that person becomes Referred to Journeyful by the one who invited them. When the Referred Person makes a booking on Journeyful.com, both the Referred Person and the one who invited them get a commission.

Individuals can redeem Referral Rewards for future stays, and hotels can cash them out as commissions.

These rewards can only be redeemed at the hotel issuing them against future stays, once again subject to certain criteria such as defined booking dates and travel dates. This is designed to increase a hotel’s follower base and to convert those followers into actual bookings in a measurable and meaningful way.
