'At Budokai Judo Club, we focus on kids and their day-to-day challenges such as self-esteem and confidence as well as bully-proofing,' adds Litvak.

Budokai Judo Club is Toronto’s #1 Judo club for kids and is known for offering professional judo instruction to all ages. Now the Club is introducing their newest course – Kinder Judo. The classes will teach boys and girls aged 4-5 in a fun, safe and rewarding environment. Studies have shown that children who are exposed to the martial arts develop key skills such as confidence, control and strength at an early age in life.

Kids Judo is increasing in popularity for many reasons. “There are several key benefits from enrolling kids at an early age into the sport,” says Ray Litvak, co-owner and Sensei of Budokai Judo Club. “Not only will they increase their confidence and strength, they will learn discipline, gender equality and a healthy respect for their new found strength,” he says. Children build confidence through their own physical accomplishments and belts and ranking which helps inspire their desire to achieve.

While many adults participate in Judo to reap the benefits of better health and weight management, parents are seeing more and more reasons to enroll their children in the sport. “Judo is one of the few sports where boys and girls can play and practice together,” says Litvak. It takes the same rules and guidelines for both boys and girls to earn a belt. The same set of rules applies to both sexes,” he adds.

“Self-defense is one of the primary reasons we encourage children to learn the sport of Judo,” says Ray Litvak, co-owner of Budokai Judo Club. “Bullying has become a growing concern amongst children in the school system and Judo can equip children with a non-violent way to protect themselves,” he says. “We focus on kids and their day-to-day challenges such as self-esteem and confidence as well as bully-proofing,” adds Litvak.

Kinder Judo sessions begin on Sunday, April 14th. Class size is limited so pre-register now.
