We and many women we know share common desires to find a cure for breast cancer, reach out to lend a hand to women in need around the world, and create a better world for our children and families.
San Jose, CA (Vocus) October 5, 2010
Award-winning greeting card company Jumping Cracker Beans LLC announces the launch of their new 100% recycled JumpStartGiving Charity Greeting Card Collection, available on JumpStartGiving.com and in selected retail stores.
“Our new JumpStartGiving charity greeting cards and website are designed for and about women, “ says Jumping Cracker Beans Creative Director and co-founder Judy Magee Dugan. “We and many women we know share common desires to find a cure for breast cancer, reach out to lend a hand to women in need around the world, and create a better world for our children and families.”
As natural communicators and nurturers, Dugan adds, women already buy more than 8 of every 10 greeting cards sold. “So why not support wonderful causes we care about at the same time?”
Each of five new 3-card packs and one holiday 5-card pack includes a gift for charity ranging from half dollar Jumping Cracker Beans charitable donations to support breast cancer research or to lend a hand to women in the developing world, up to five dollars in prepaid TisBest Charity Gift Cards. Plus, all JumpStartGiving 100% recycled charity greeting cards are handmade in the U.S. by GoodSource, a division of Goodwill Industries, supporting jobs at North America’s largest non-profit employer of disadvantaged and disabled people.
For breast cancer research, the Find A Cure page on JumpStartGiving.com features a 3-card pack of textured, blush pink, fiber-dyed greeting cards, each with a real ink-tipped feather quill attached. In sweeping script, the sentiment “thinking of you” looks as if hand-written with quill and ink. Inside (also in script) the card says: “(and they say people don’t write like they used to)”. Jumping Cracker Beans will donate one half dollar to The Breast Cancer Research Foundation for each Feather Quill 3-card pack sold ($12.95 retail).
“One of every eight women in the U.S. is diagnosed with breast cancer,” says Dugan, “including my sister and dear friends who owe their lives to advances in breast cancer research. Either personally or through those we care about, breast cancer touches us all.”
On the Give A Gift web page, three new 3-card packs ($12.95 retail) and one holiday 5-card pack ($19.95 retail) feature prepaid TisBest $1.00 Charity Gift Cards. Greeting card recipients can direct the prepaid $1.00 gifts on TisBest.org to their choice of 250 charities, including such mainstays of charitable giving as the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, American Cancer Society, ASPCA, CARE, Doctors Without Borders, Habitat for Humanity, The Humane Society of the U.S., Nature Conservancy, National Public Radio (NPR), PBS, UNICEF, and many more.
The JumpStartGiving.com Lend A Hand page features a 3-card pack of “Blessings” charity greeting cards enabling women to share their blessings with women in the developing world. For each pack sold, Jumping Cracker Beans will donate one half dollar to organizations that empower women in the world’s poorest places to emerge from extreme poverty. On the front of the “Blessings” card are the numbers 1... 2 ... 3 ... with a foil mirror where the number “4...” would appear. Inside it says: “Just counting my blessings (and one of them is you!).”
“I love the Nutrition Facts on the back of our 3-card packs,” says Jumping Cracker Beans Business Director and co-founder, Julia Murphy. “It’s a fun way to let women know these cards are 100% recycled, 100% made in the USA by Goodwill, and that sending them gives you a great feeling with zero calories!”
Jumping Cracker Beans won Card of the Year, the top honor of the greeting card industry, at the 20th Annual International Greeting Card “Louie” Awards in May 2008. The following year they took home the coveted “Superbly Stated” Louie Award. A Jumping Cracker Beans Sympathy card garnered a Louie Award Finalist honor in 2010.
“As a woman-owned company,” says Dugan, “Jumping Cracker Beans invites women across the country to JumpStartGiving by teaming with us, with Goodwill, and TisBest Philanthropy to make a difference in our world...together.”
