The JW Marriott San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa and TPC San Antonio announced today the launch of preparations for their second professional golf tournament in 2011. The AT&T Championship on the PGA TOUR Champions Tour is moving to TPC San Antonio at the highly acclaimed San Antonio resort.
“We are thrilled to be the new host for this historic tournament,” said JW Marriott San Antonio general manager Arthur Coulombe. “This property was designed to set new standards in the region for luxury hospitality, and world-class golf is our signature offering. We are honored to have these notable players stay with us and challenge Pete Dye’s Canyon Course.”
This year’s AT&T Championship tournament is the 27th annual event, all of which have been held in San Antonio. Past winners include John Cook, Fred Funk, Jay Haas, Mark McNulty, Lee Trevino and Craig Stadler. For the second year in a row, the tickets and parking are free, courtesy of Snapple Gate Days. San Antonio-area non-profit organizations will be distributing tickets to the general public leading up to the tournament as a part of the Champions “FORE” Charities Ticket Program. Fans may also pick up tickets at the gate during tournament days or visit the AT&T Championship website (http://www.attchamp.com) for more information.
The resort is also home to the prestigious PGA TOUR Valero Texas Open held annually in the spring. The JW San Antonio Hill Country Resort & Spa and TPC San Antonio join Pebble Beach Golf Links and TPC Sawgrass as one of only a few properties to host two PGA TOUR events each year.

About the Champions Tour
The Champions Tour is a tax-exempt membership organization of professional golfers age 50 and older. Conceived in 1980 as the Senior PGA Tour, it started with just four events and purses totaling $475,000. In 2008 the Champions Tour features a minimum of 29 official events offering $55.5 million in prize money and an average purse of $1.91 million. The Champions Tour operates under the umbrella of the PGA TOUR which includes the PGA TOUR, Champions Tour and Nationwide Tour.
