The SchoolFusion website solution in Wichita is designed to create more involved parents, efficient and effective teachers, informed communities and, ultimately, higher-achieving students with 21st century skills.

Wichita Public Schools partnered with SchoolFusion to launch a new state-of-the-art website aimed at improving communication. As the largest school district in the state of Kansas with 94 schools and over 45,000 students, communication initiatives are high priority.

The new website will provide Wichita school district with an array of cutting-edge features, including: easy-to-use content management, online calendars, Web 2.0 tools, and a safe and secure hosting solution.

“The SchoolFusion website solution in Wichita is designed to create more involved parents, efficient and effective teachers, informed communities and, ultimately, higher-achieving students with 21st century skills,” explains SchoolFusion President Stephen Shapiro.

As the most advanced K–12 web solution available, SchoolFusion saves schools time by providing feature-rich, fully customizable web tools that serve as the hub of the entire school community. Additionally, SchoolFusion ensures a clean and professional Web presence across all 94 schools.

“When I see newbies sitting beside digital natives in a SchoolFusion training session and observe both so enthused about what this product can do for their classroom, that’s when I know we have met the challenge of finding a truly robust and versatile product,” says Velma Davis, Instructional Support Specialist for Wichita Public Schools.

SchoolFusion websites also give each individual a personal dashboard that filters the information most relevant to them, including a message center keeping students, teachers and parents connected.

“Creating the most effective online learning tools for schools -- so teachers are empowered to engage those 21st century students -- is what we do best,” Shapiro adds.

At the 2010 Site Technology Specialists (STS) Event in Wichita, Kansas, Shapiro spoke of the importance of what trainers mean to student success. In his speech, he highlights how the goal of the Wichita-SchoolFusion partnership is much more than to offer a next generation website solution. Instead, it’s to improve student achievement.

“We gain higher student achievement through parental involvement, expanding the learning window and helping teachers connect; all by integrating technology into the classroom,” says Shapiro.

The presentation has started running on WPS-TV, Wichita’s local public television program. The video can also be viewed at http://www.schoolfusion.com .

The new website can be found at http://www.usd259.org . So far the response has been overwhelmingly positive.
