Charles Steele, Jr., Ph.D Honored During Black History Month

Kairos Development Corporation, in conjunction with 1 Joshua Group, recently honored Civil Rights leader Charles Steele, Jr., Ph.D, during a special Black History Month program held at historic Jefferson Station in East Point, Ga.

Earnestine Pittman, Mayor of East Point proclaimed Feb. 22 as Charles Steele, Jr. Day.

Dr. Steele is a man of great integrity and inspired us to be bold in our stand to better our communities through economic opportunities for all. It was a great privilege to have someone of his stature address all that attended.

Kairos Development Corporation, in conjunction with 1 Joshua Group, recently honored Civil Rights leader Charles Steele, Jr., Ph.D, during a special Black History Month program held at historic Jefferson Station in East Point, Ga. City of East Point Mayor, Earnestine Pittman proclaimed the day, “Charles Steele, Jr. Day.”

Steele, past national president and CEO of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference (2004-2009) has been widely recognized for his efforts to improve the quality of life and livability for his constituents. He was the first African American elected to the City Council of Tuscaloosa and one of the first African Americans elected to the Alabama State Senate. He is the founder and President of Charles Steele Associates, an Atlanta-based consulting.company.

“We were honored to have Dr. Charles Steele, Jr. at Jefferson Station to recognize Black History Month,” said Kairos Development Property Management Director, Velda Simpson. “Dr. Steele is a man of great integrity and inspired us to be bold in our stand to better our communities through economic opportunities for all.
