10 percent of the members of the Harley's Angels have personally experienced breast cancer. Another 90% have supported a loved one who has breast cancer. We are grateful to have Kalon Women and its members nationwide who are standing by our side. We will not quit until women no longer have to fear losing their lives or their breasts.

In support of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Kalon Women, the fastest growing women's community online for women over 40, is showcasing the Harley's Angels of Houston in the October issue of Kalon Women. The Harley's Angels, a group of 100+ women who ride Harley Davidson motorcycles, volunteer to raise funds for breast cancer research through their annual "Cruzin to Cure" campaign in the Houston area.
Kimen Metzger, a charter member of the Harley's Angels , and a breast cancer survivor, states that the Harley's Angels raise up to $60,000 each year to support breast cancer research through calendar sales (featuring pictures of the Harley's Angels on their bikes), a poker run, and other activities. To date, the group has contributed over $450,000 to breast cancer research programs. Recipients of funds include Baylor College of Medicine and U.T.M.D Anderson in Houston, Texas.
Sandra Levitin, co-founder of Kalon Women, states that "no woman or man is untouched by breast cancer." Levitin, whose Kalon co-founder, Joanne Mates, died of metastatic breast cancer in 2006, is devoting the October 2009 issue of the magazine, to inspire women and men who are facing breast cancer. The October issue will feature stories of courage, love and hope from breast cancer survivors, as well as healthy recipes from the Kalon Kitchen, and lifestyle changes that reduce breast cancer risk, seven ways to protect oneself from swine flu. Kalon Women will also be launching a 3-D Art Gallery, the first ever of its kind.
Says Levitin, "Kalon Women is now the fastest growing community on the web for women over age 40 because we provide resources and support for 'real women who are dealing with real issues,' and having to deal with breast cancer is unfortunately a very real issue for too many women."
