Abington Memorial Hospital is First Top-Tier Recipient in History of Keystone Alliance for Performance Excellence

As the first Excellence Award recipient in KAPE’s history, Abington has raised the bar for organizational excellence, inspiring other Pennsylvania organizations to be more accessible, more efficient, more customer-focused, and more innovative.

Keystone Alliance for Performance Excellence (KAPE) announced that Abington Memorial Hospital, Abington, PA, has received the 2010 KAPE Excellence Award. It is the first time in the history of KAPE that an applicant has earned its top-tier award level.

“KAPE is thrilled to congratulate Abington Memorial Hospital on its achievement,” said Bob Bitner, KAPE executive director. “As the first Excellence Award recipient in KAPE’s history, Abington has raised the bar for organizational excellence, inspiring other Pennsylvania organizations to be more accessible, more efficient, more customer-focused, and more innovative.”

The 2010 KAPE Award process included applicant organizations from across Pennsylvania. All applicants were rigorously evaluated by an independent board of examiners in seven areas: leadership; strategic planning; customer focus; measurement, analysis and knowledge management; workforce focus; process management; and results.

Abington Memorial Hospital and the other 2010 KAPE applicants will be recognized at KAPE’s annual Performance Excellence Conference and Awards Banquet on November 3 and 4 in Harrisburg.

The KAPE Award process is open to large and small organizations from all sectors, including education, health care, manufacturing, service, and government and non-profit. The process helps all types of organizations improve their performance and outcomes and recognizes their efforts; the award is not given for specific products or services.
