Kara Mahon, a Certified Public Accountant, is also a teacher and member of the faculty at Piedmont Technical College, and as such is always seeking ways to get involved with the community like with her current teaching initiative “Believing in a Dream”. This accounting professor has recently debuted this program at a local elementary school and is excited to implement this UC Berkley outreach initiative program in Laurens, South Carolina. This is an exciting program that involves lower income students, to build support toward secondary education.
Kara Mahon presented the “Believing in a Dream” program in December, and it was recently accepted by the local elementary schools. This program was created by UC Berkley to help encourage kids that come from low-income backgrounds, to successfully transition through all levels of schooling into post-secondary education. This is a program that is composed of workshops and lessons that assist children between grades 4-8. This is a program that has been helpful in helping families transition through all the stages of education, to give the children a greater chance at being successful in their later years.
Kara Mahon introduced this “Believing in a Dream” program, to provide students with better opportunities to further their education and their lives. It is always important for students to know that there are people believing in their success which is why the “Believing in a Dream: program is so successful. Currently 60 children have participated in this program, all of them looking forward to what the future holds for their lives. Thankfully, there are people like Kara Mahon involved in the community, assisting children in believing in their dreams.
Kara Mahon is a CPA and is a respected member of the Accounting Department at Piedmont Technical College, and she has always been interested in giving back in any way possible to the community. This is why Kara Mahon has given her time in so many charitable endeavors like that of “Believing in a Dream”. Teachers do inspire their students, but it’s always even more amazing with professors like Kara Mahon take the time to influence members of the community.
