Tami and Edward made America proud
Mason, OH (PRWEB) September 29, 2010
Karaoke World Championships USA rocked Red Square this past weekend as the USA's national karaoke champions; Tami Marie and Edward Pimentel belted out tunes on stage in Moscow Russia at the 2010 Karaoke World Championships. Wendell Payne, President of KWCUSA says, “Tami and Edward gave the best overall performances of the entire competition. They raised the bar for the world. This was the U.S. at its best and we should all be proud of how they represented America on and off the stage.” Tami finished 3rd, higher than any other USA female since we have been competing. Both Tami and Edward brought the complete package with incredible vocals, stage presence and performance.
Tami opened up the first round with "Misery" by Pink and was catapulted into the top five with "River Deep Mountain High" by Celine Dionne. She captured Bronze after singing "Mercy on Me" by Christina Aguilera. Tami says, "After an experience of a lifetime, and the honor of being the female BRONZE MEDALIST, I want to thank my family and friends for their support. Also to the entire KWC world staff and all the KWC competitors I want to say I love you all from the bottom of my heart. I feel blessed and privileged to be the HIGHEST RANKING female that KWCUSA has ever had at the World Championships! I will never forget my time in Russia with all the Love."
Edward opened with "There Goes My Baby" by Usher. He also placed in the top five with "Whataya Want From Me" by Adam Lambert, which is huge on Russian music charts.
Edward also received the prestigious People’s Choice Award, which came with 1 million dumplings. Bagging the 1 million dumpling prize purse has put Ed and the KWC in the media spotlight as news organizations everywhere have been buzzing about the million dumpling prize. Edward credits the KWC for his good fortune, “If it was not for the KWCUSA Karaoke Competition, I would not be here right now. This is a chance for amateur singers to get an opportunity at stardom. This is the only time I have ever represented my country and I am very proud of that.”
Team USA's performance overall was stellar and the excitement of having both US contestants in the top five was huge. Winning the bronze and the people choice awards proves that the KWCUSA organization has made great strides at attracting strong, competitive amateur singing talent.
The 2011 season will attract even more great talent since singers may get a chance to be on national television. KWCUSA and ABC are producing a new National Network Television Series scheduled to air during the summer of 2011. That means singers, KJ's, and karaoke venues will have an opportunity to be involved in the new series, this will only amplify the already growing interest in the competition. Ireland will host the 2011 KWC in Killarney, Ireland September 8 thru 10 at the INEC in conjunction with the 4-star hotel The Brehon, located next door. KWCUSA will offer a travel package for the US team and fans to attend and will provide information soon on the websites' Ireland page.
KWCUSA will soon announce the regional and national venues. Payne says, “We are planning to have the nationals in Las Vegas and leaning towards Boston for the East, Austin for Central and not certain about the West at this moment.” KWCUSA will look for venues that meet requirements for the event and the National Television Series.
