NHS South of Tyne and Wear Automates IT Support to Streamline Service for 3,200 Employees

Lausanne, Switzerland (PRWEB) July 1, 2009 -- Kaseya (http://www.kaseya.co.uk), a leading provider of information technology (IT) automation software for public and private sector organisations, today announced that NHS South of Tyne and Wear has set out to dramatically improve IT support for its 3,200 employees using the KaseyaIT automation™ platform. NHS South of Tyne and Wear - a management structure covering Gateshead Primary Care Trust, South Tyneside Primary Care Trust, and Sunderland Teaching Primary Care Trust - will use the centralised IT management system to simplify and automate support across 260 sites, as part of a continual drive to improve the level of service offered to staff and patients.

The Kaseya platform provides NHS South of Tyne and Wear's IT team of 20 technicians with all the applications needed to manage more than 3,200 desktop PCs and laptops, and printers, from performance monitoring, to IT security and IT asset management. The integrated system replaces a disparate and non-integrated portfolio of software support tools, ensuring more efficient use of technicians' time and negating the need for them to be conversant with multiple technologies.

The new automation platform will allow the organisation to remotely monitor, manage and support its entire computing infrastructure, including a number of machines not directly connected to the main network, spread across 260 sites in the region. As a result technicians will no longer have to travel to individual machines to perform maintenance and updates, which will boost technician productivity, reduce travel costs and maximise uptime of the system for all users. This, combined with the time savings that the software enables will see their productivity dramatically increase, optimising our use of hospital funding.

Using the platform's integrated web-based interface, NHS South of Tyne and Wear technicians can also plan, control, analyse and automatically schedule IT tasks and procedures, so patch management and software upgrades can be completed quickly and simply, without affecting day-to-day operations. The platform's advanced automation capability means that the majority of regular maintenance routines can be set to carry out in a scalable, repeatable and reliable fashion. Its unique Agent Procedures enable the engineers to capture common tasks and have Kaseya perform them instead. This process can also be triggered by the platform's advanced monitoring functions, leading to completely automated remediation, which saves time and streamlines the monitoring process so engineers have more time to focus on strategic projects.
