Being recognized with this Achievement Award is a validation of our core practices and construction methodology

KCM Inc. is pleased to announce that they have been recognized with a Project Achievement Award for their recently completed Arena Stage at Mead Center project. With a project value exceeding $100 million, and numerous consulting architects and engineers involved, the project management element of this historic cultural institution was fraught with complexities and a very finite budget.

“Being recognized with this Achievement Award is a validation of our core practices and construction methodology”, stated Ted Kalriess, Senior Project Manager of KCM. He continues: “We often act as the Owner's representative and as such, we are constantly evaluating costs and benefits and outcomes. Bringing our projects in on time and on budget is mandatory; moreover, we do so meeting the Owner's project requirements without sacrificing the program or aesthetic." Guy Bergquist, Facility Project Director for Arena Stage notes, "The best decision I made was hiring KCM."

Considered a boutique firm, the award winning KCM’s reputation is based on excellent project management, outstanding staff members and a hands-on, collegiate approach to working with the project team. Assigned managers have extensive field experience as general contractors – not only do they know the challenges that contractors face, but they also know how to help them solve problems. KCM is effective in devising creative solutions, foreseeing and avoiding problems and challenging complacency. Expert knowledge of costing at the trade level allows for accurate input into proposed changes and decision making on behalf of the client.

Currently, KCM is providing construction management and cost consulting services for Reston Station Phases 1 and 2; over 1.7 million square feet of transit oriented development of the Reston Station Metro station on the new Silver Line. KCM has been assisting the project team since 2005 providing feasibility studies, planning, scheduling, and design team management. Phase 1 includes a 2,300 car parking facility to service Metro riders, a Kiss & Ride, bus vault and 500 private parking spaces to support retail at the plaza level. This transit oriented development includes 100,000 cubic yards of cast-in-place concrete and over 400,000 cubic yards of excavation to create the largely below grade structure. Phase 2 includes a 440 unit apartment building and a concept design is underway for an additional 600,000 sq. ft. of office buildings, athletic facilities and retail spaces
