We are extremely proud of what we have achieved and that we have been able to provide an income to the over 30 000 agents that participated in the crowd-sourcing program

Mocality, Africa’s largest mobile and web based business directory, are proud to announce that they have achieved 500,000 businesses listings across Kenya (http://www.mocality.co.ke) and Nigeria (http://www.mocality.com.ng).
Using their unique crowd-sourcing program to acquire the listings, Mocality has created the largest, verified business directory for Kenya and Nigeria.
Mocality launched their crowd-sourcing program as a way to rapidly gather data in markets severely lacking in readily available local business information. Any member of the Kenyan (http://www.mocality.co.ke/agentinfo/) or Nigerian (http://www.mocality.com.ng/agentinfo/ ) public can sign up and use their mobile phone to list businesses and earn income at the same time. All listings are verified and moderated by the Mocality call centres in Nairobi and Lagos.
The crowd-sourcing program in Kenya has been operational for over two years, however the Nigerian program has taken only 11 months to achieve in excess of 280 000 listings, a phenomenal milestone.
Jonathan Muir Mocality’s General Manager said, “ We are extremely proud of what we have achieved and that we have been able to provide an income to the over 30 000 agents that participated in the crowd-sourcing program”
Muir continued “For over 60% of the businesses listed on Mocality, we have provided their first web presence – think about it, that is 300 000 businesses that Mocality has brought online”
Achieving 500 000 listings is testimony to the success of this program. Businesses owners are also able to self list their business or claim their business and manage their online profile if it is already listed.
Mocality is currently at 14 on Alexa for Kenya and 36 for Nigeria, making it one of the top local sites in each country.
